The Army in London has recorded the first great astronomical event of the century in the front yard of Horse Guards. As the sun was eclipsed by the moon at 0930 in London, the capital was plunged into a dusk like gloom, the street lights came on, and birds began to roost. Smog and thick fog obscured the detail of the eclipse itself, but as temperatures plummeted and the light faded its effects were plain to see. | The Army in London - HQ London District
